Choose well

There are different healthcare services available to help you find the right care to treat your condition. Picking the service most appropriate to your symptoms means you get the right treatment in the right place.

Self-care is the best choice to treat minor illnesses and injuries. Conditions such as aches and pains, coughs, colds, upset stomachs and sore throats can be treated with over-the-counter medicines and plenty of rest. Most of these conditions will get better whether or not you take treatment.

If you need advice or other care, you can contact a pharmacist, a minor injuries unit, your GP or a GP out-of-hours service. In an emergency you can attend one of the hospital emergency departments or phone 999 for an ambulance.

Choices
